History
Stretching from the foothills of the Rocky Mountains to Illinois, the North American Prarie was once home to hundreds of different wildlife, including American Bison, Eskimo Curlews, and Pronghorn. It covered over one million acres of grasslands, and was divided into three sections, the tall grass prarie, mixed grass prarie, and short grass prarie.
Unfortunately, due to the use of agriculture and other technology, the prarie is now limited to about 1% of what it used to be. There is a reserve for the North American Prarie though, in which there are many sites to see. If you would like to check it out, please click here.
