General Weather
The prairie faces many different types of weather. During the summers, the air is warm and humid, while the winters are cold, but not to the extreme. Apart from these seasons, the air is usually dry, because moisture from the pacific ocean is blocked by the Rocky Mountains. The annual precipitation can range anywhere from 20-35 inches each year.
Also, there are many natural disasters that can occur here, including droughts, tornadoes, and especially wild fires.

Comparing and Contrasting Temperate Grassland to Savanna Grassland
Unlike temperate grasslands, savanna grasslands have a completely different climate. In a savanna, the air is normally always hot and humid, and the annual rainfall can range from about 20-30 inches. The soil is porous so it can absorb the rain.
Both grasslands have disasters such as droughts and wild fires.
